(8) Triple Crown Championship Match: [44th Champion] Jun Akiyama vs. [Challenger] Masakatsu Funaki
Winner: Funaki (4:37) following a high kick and then the Hybrid Blaster.
~Akiyama falls on his 5th Defense. Funaki becomes the 45th Champion.
~ Funaki was said to have been on a mission coming into this match, and he completed the goal of bringing the San-kan heavy belt back to All Japan. From the looks of the match it seems that Funaki was in dominating mode. He smashed Akiyama with palm strikes, and shocked everyone in attendance by beating the champion in under 5 minutes! What’s next for Funaki, early signs point to Suwama as the next challenger.
